Writing a Crypto Press Release: Content & Structure (Downloadable Template Inside)

Crypto Press Release Template and Structure

If you’ve never written a crypto press release before, it can be easy to assume that it is a long and cumbersome process. After all, press releases can seem like big, important documents that require years of experience to get right.

At the end of the day, however, press releases are simply documents, and these can be written by virtually anyone. Having handled press releases for years, we at BTCWire know that it can ultimately be boiled down to a science. In this blog post, we will break down the anatomy of a crypto press release and offer a helpful template you can use to write your own.

Headings

The very first thing you see when you come across a press release is the heading, and this makes it extremely important. The heading of a crypto press release is what will convince readers to click and read more, and journalists to possibly cover the story in question. Creating a press release heading effectively will require naming the important participants, giving a very quick summary of what is going on, as well as a tiny bit of detail. Let’s say your business has a line of crypto wallets and you are launching the latest edition in early 2026.

A crypto press release headline could read thus: “Crypt Wallets Announces Series 8 digital asset wallet release in Q1 2026”.  This headline adheres to several best practices in that it is short enough that it will not get cut off by web browsers while also giving enough detail. Even if you don’t click to read more, you know which companies are involved, when they are putting out a development, and when the development is. Always remember that many modern consumers do not look past the headlines at all, so it is important to start off with a strong heading.

Date

In many press releases, the date of publication is the next thing to follow after the heading. Typically, this is put within a bracket of sorts and is quite important. As we’ve said, it specifies the dates the press release is published and is a permanent record of the public being informed. In some cases, the location of the business is stated as well.

So, an example of this could be [July 21, 2025, New York].  This tells you the dates the press release went out and also where the entity putting out the press releases is located. This is not a hard and fast rule, but having the date stated at the beginning of the press release can give a lot of context to readers.

Opening Paragraph

Crypto Press Release Template and Structure

Just like with the heading, it’s important to put as much information as possible in the opening paragraph of the crypto press release in case readers do not make it to the end. The very first sentence should summarize the development in question and not keep anyone guessing. Going back to the example of the new crypto wallet, the opening paragraph could go something like this: “Crypt Wallet, a top crypto storage solution, has announced the Series 8 crypto wallet will be released in early 2025. The wallet, which is the latest in its ultra wallet series, will be available for purchase via its website and follows the Series 7 wallet, which was launched in July 2025.”

From this paragraph, we know the company in question, what they are putting out, when it is being put out, and even some more context about it. Even if you don’t read beyond this, you’ve gotten the who, where, what, why, and how.

Body Text

After you’ve given vital information in the first paragraph, you can continue to flesh it out in the body text. Because the most vital information has been gotten out of the way, you can begin to give more context around the development. With the example of the wallet, you can go into some of its key features and how it improves on previous releases. You can also give concrete details about how purchases can be made, including specific dates and whatnot.

Ideally, you should have three extra paragraphs maximum in your press release besides the opening one. This is because you don’t want the press release to be too lengthy and cumbersome to read while also going through all the relevant details.

Quotes

Here at BTCWire, we are big fans of quotes because they offer a way to make your press release more interesting to read. One person might not be convinced of the worth of the project on its own, but reading someone speak in their own words about it, they might find it more engaging. Quotes should be of appropriate length and should be from someone connected to the project. This could be an executive from your company, an industry leader, or much more. Make sure to put the quote from the middle or at the end of the press release, depending on how much value it adds. Ideally, you should put the quote in italics so it is distinguished from the rest of the press release.

About Section

After you’ve given all the information you need in the main press release body, you want to create an about section for all the relevant entities mentioned. In the case of the wallet announcement, the company itself will have an about section. This should be about a paragraph talking about what the entity does. When writing a crypto press release, it’s best to consider those who aren’t yet familiar with the business and allow them to gain some background information. If you are writing a press release about Binance, you have to state that it is an international crypto exchange that offers thousands of token pairs and several features to users.

Media Links

After the about section, it’s worth having a section for media links. This simply lists all of the platforms through which the business can be connected online. This should include its website, social media handles, and contact info. Always consider that some people might want to take action as soon as they read your press release, and they shouldn’t have to go about the internet looking for this information.

Images

This is not required necessarily when putting out a crypto press release, but you can always attach images to enhance it. This could be images of the project in question, images of executives, or just anything you believe represents your business and the development you are announcing. Make sure you use royalty-free images or those for which your company has the rights.
